GPA Calculator

Calculate Grade Point Average on a standard 4.0 scale with credit weighting and dynamic course entries.

How It Works & Methodology

Grade Point Average (GPA) is the standard metric used in high schools and universities to summarize academic achievement. Courses are weighted by their credit hours, multiplying credit units by grade point values to produce quality points.

GPA = Total Quality Points / Total Credits Quality Points = Sum of (Course Credits * Grade Point Value) Grade Scale: A+/A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), D- (0.7), F (0.0)
Key Assumptions & Scope:
  • Uses standard unweighted 4.0 scale.
  • Requires positive credit weights for all included courses.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do credit hours affect my GPA?

Courses with higher credit weights (e.g. a 4-credit lab course) have a greater proportional influence on your cumulative GPA than 1- or 2-credit courses.

What is the point value of an A- grade?

On the standard 4.0 scale, an A- corresponds to 3.7 grade points, while B+ is 3.3 and B is 3.0.

Can I add or remove courses dynamically?

Yes. Use the Add Course button to append additional classes, or click the remove icon to delete any unwanted row.
